Snes controller with two ic's

Wow early models must have had two ic's. I thought all snes controllers had one Ic. I opend a snes cotnroller today and it had two! Just want to let you know.

I guess if you build an SNES portable, you won't have to destroy 2 nes controllers,

Isn't it one in NES controllers and two in the SNES controllers?

Well I've seen snes controllers with only one ic.

THe SNES controller has 1 IC that works the same (accordsing to Ben) as 2 NES IC's put together. However, I don't think anyone has successfully done that. Jeroen, MAKE A SCHEMATIC!!! and pictures.

I tried, but couldn't get it to work. SO I just used the SNES IC. MUUUUCH Easier.

But mine has two surface mount 4012 or watver it was called
They were surface mount versions of the nes ones. Loads of resistors on the boards two. I think I could snag a picture eventually.

Mine has two ic's as well. I think the newer models just have one ic with more inputs/outputs (like an extra bit or two)

I wonder if it's a controller that came out with the very first wave of SNES's? And then the next batch of controllers Nintendo made they switched to just one IC. Interesting...

I found a third party snes controller with turbo settings for each button at goodwill, and I found a shocking discovery. it had CAPACITORS that were SURFACEMOUNT. and surface mount resistors. but it had a super small surface mount ic that could be used for a portable that you want to have a lot of action

i think it would be interesting to see the inside of this controller to see what type of IC it uses
