Making PSp, need some advice

Okay, I'm going to build a PSp. Now, I need a little advice here:

Should I take out the parts and all that and put it into a custom case, or work around the standard case?

If I take it out of the case, how the hell do I replicate the CD door thing closing?

Should I get a project box or something similar to save money, or should I find somebody who can build a fancy case similar to Ben's Psp?

Any reccomendations for maximum battery life?

cd drive: if you look at the mechanism, you should see a few pins. find out where they connect when closed and put a wire in between to short them out.

As for batteries, put white LED's in the screen instead of the backlight, if you feel comfortable.

You could do it like I did and just put the controlls in the original case.
6 AA's work great for powering the PS1. You get 3 to 4 hours with them.

Six AAs..... That should work, especially if I get rechargables. Any particular kind of rechargable I should get?

And does anybody else who's done the controller-in-case thing know a way to get enough room to put the analog sticks in? And how exactly do you get enough extra space so that the buttons aren't always pushed far enough against the controller board to make it seem as though the button's pushed down?

I use rayovac 15 minute rechargeables , they work great! It only takes a half hour to charge enough batterys instead of 6 hours. Or you could use a 7.2v RC car battery pack from radio shack. Either one works.

Hey, so about the batteries the guest was talking about, would you have to set up your own little mechanism thing to connect them to the case? and they will power the screen too right. (Sorry if these are kinda dumb questions, but i'm new to this whole thing)
