Post by Motoman »

you, the world etc. See, I have to complete a project on any issue/problem ravaging the world, our(your) nation or our everyday lives. I am requesting all of your help to rattle off some issues you find interesting/worrying. Cliche or not it doesnt matter as long as they aren't extremely stupid ones (for example: My underwear is always brown :P)............Ewww

Thanks,
Tom

BTW please do NOT turn this into somekind of political bashing or I will request closure even though that would greatly inconvenience(sp?) only me. (for example President *insert name* is a *insert insult* because of *insert problem*)

Umm... McDonalds still doesn't serve breakfast all day?!

Or on a more serious note, the United State's DMCA still prohibits ripping CSS protected (IE all store bought DVD movies) DVD's.

Please keep this thread from becoming political (which it is in danger of, believe me)

My opinion is, simply put, technology will save the world. Build a better barrel of oil, and the world will beat a path to your door.

All of the wasting our would does. I try my best to notice it and do my part. Now, granted I'm not always doing it but I try. Like "if it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down." No, seriously. :)

The biggest problem facing the world today is that people are too selfish. everything could be solved if people would forget political, religious, racial, cultural, financial, boundries and help each other out. instead everyone is like "sure I can help you feed the starving people in your country, that is, if you can give me something I want (ie not really need)" and that causes controversy, hard feelings, hatred and causes wars to start and get a lot of people killed completly needlessly. examples include such things as genocide in african countries, ethnic clensing in iraq, fighting over politicle ideals between the US and Chavez, fighting over nukes in Korea, the old fight over communism and democracy, the list can go on and on. if all these people would just agree to disagree and get on with their lives and cooperate there would be nothing to fight about

People ruthlessly bash Sony and Microsoft's game consoles and act like Nintendo is the innocent underdog trying to make it in the world, and MS and Sony are the big evil corporations that want to see nothing more than Nintendo's demise. It's competition. It's buisness. Get over it.

^ Yeah, that. :P

Gas is too darn expensive, and the prices are going to be jacked sky high this summer because of demand, not a shortage of crude. If there were a crude oil shortage they wouldn't be paving roads with tar. The gas problem is in the refineries, which we have outgrown, and distribution means.

"Crossover SUVs". It's not an SUV. You can't call something a "truck" if it's built off a unibody. A crossover SUV is nothing more than a minivan with extra plastic and a tow hitch. Hear that, people? Your "Crossover SUV" is a MINIVAN! Of course SUVs in general are big, bulky, and wasteful. Not to mention the Freestyle Hybrid's maximum onboard cargo limit of something like 900 pounds, including passengers...

We as a species are packed onto this single planet, where we may well be completely destroyed by a single hunk of rock in space. Read: we are vulnerable to natural disasters.

People are willing to fight and kill each other over slight variations of the same religious beliefs (Christianity VS Islam VS Judaism; the Abrahamic Religions).

We will soon hit peak oil production if we haven't already. Drilling will return fewer and fewer new reserves after this point. China will soon become a major consumer of energy resources. This could lead to conflict.

Too many people have too little humility. Many consider themselves more important then others. Some refuse to admit their errors, such as their support for a lesser console or portable.

We sentence a 60-year-old to 40 years in prison instead of executing him and putting tax-payers' money to better use for a nobler cause.

Actually, with legal fees and the whatnot (they always do what they can to appeal, since their life literally depends on it) it is cheaper to keep a guy in jail for life than to execute him.

you do relize that it takes 100-something thousand dollars a year to keep an inmate alive right but bullets cost less than a dollar a piece
