Heres a guide for ripping the DVDs. You might be able to use PSP Video 9 to convert them to files your phone uses. What awesome phone do you have that can play videos and in what file format? Movies sized for PSP are about 600MB, but it should be less for your phone because of the lower screen resolution.

Rip the DVD with software of your choice, then convert to a mobile format with ImTOO 3GP video converter. It's commerical, but cheap. All the freeware converters I've tried suck.

Make sure you change the audio encoding options to get better sound. On average, I get ~200MB for each movie.

What phone do you have?

I have a Sony Ericsson W810i Walkman phone with a 2gig memory stick. Vskid's guide worked great, I just used Super video converter to convert the .VOB to a .3gp

Just remember, ripping protected DVD's is illegal in the US.

Rip the DVD with whatever software you want to use, then use SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html) to convert it. I think it converts to 3gp video also.
EDIT: hey, my 100th post. yay.
