Where to start?

Hello, all! My name is Mooney and I am a total noob when it comes to hacking gaming systems

... which is why I came here. I have just about 0 knowledge on hardware, so I was wondering where a good place to start learning would be. Would the Hacking Videogame Consoles book teach me from scratch, or should I take some courses at a local college (Robotics? Programming?)? How did the rest of you learn?

I'd definitely recommend getting Ben's book. Then maybe start on a NOAC.

I learned from bens book. Its awesome. however, I made a handbuilt nes from it and it doesn't work. I might have a bad screen. or it could be a text error. I dunno.
I have a forum I made with how tos that you can learn off of. they aren't done yet and don't have pictures yet, but they will.

this was based off of info from the book and the site. these howtos have the corrections the book didn't have.

Just read stuff here and try cheap projects on your own, you'll learn eventually.

bens book laid down a great base for me to learn. i started with that then learned the rest from reading here. it's really a great book to get even if you dont intend on making and portables with his design

i must say ben's book is a great resource, his hand built project cases,... evil... get the book, and make your own design case, much more fun, as was said to me by some person i can't remember on this forums, anyway... oh yeah use the SEARCH FUNCTION!!!! it is godly and will save you time and other nuisance

There was an error in the book. It at the bottom of this page.

Labeling mistake in Chapter 7 Figure 7-19

The book displays an incomplete picture for Figure 7-19 which is missing some labeling. Click here to download my original version which contains the complete numerical and alphabetical labels.

Main change: Addition of labels B and F-I.

I dunno if that will solve the problem.

Well I learned everything from either here. Ben's book or a book that's called electronics for dummies. (I know it's a dummie title but it's great detail and easy to understand)
