Bens Atari 800 Computer

Post by ValiantVenality »

How does it run all the games? Is it emulation? Do you have to type certain things in for certain programs to work? I really would like this laptop. I am not very good at school and I have seen a lot of videos on learning things. And a bunch of its games are fun too. So how do you run the programs on it?

It's a real Atari 800 series computer, you use it just like any other Atari 800 computer. programs are run through BASIC programming, loading downloaded files off a CompactFlash card, or (in the new one) cartridges through a breakout box.

This all really depends on what kind of media you're loading it from. If cassette, for example, you would type 'cload', then 'run'.

Well Ben's Laptop uses a compactflash as a removable media. This is much better then a disk drive or cassette, in power, size(data/physical), and noise. I should also make note that in order for Ben to use the compactflash card he had to add a IDE adapter to the the computer, this meant replacing the rom and adding more hardware. The Atari 800 Laptop is one of Ben's greater challenges, so it's not for a new comer, and would still be hard for someone who's a novice with a soldering iron.

You call the individual game file. Unless the MyIDE is able to see directories and things like that, if it's the case look at mr-atari.com for the info on the MyIDE.
