moving things from hard drives

I have a lot of games on my moms computer. they are taking up like 20 of 70 gigs, so she wants them off. I have a 40 gig HD, how can I get them off of her hard drive on to mine?

Are they installed (ie The Sims, Unreal Tournament)? If so, there's no way to easily "move" the current installations, unless re-writing registry entries is your idea of fun. You would have to back up all your settings and custom stuff, uninstall, reinstall with the external drive as the target, and put all your custom stuff back. They won't work on any other machines, but at least you won't get yelled at.

After you install and uninstall all that stuff, install AVAST Registry Cleaner and CCleaner Lite (without yahoo toolbar). You can get both from MajorGeeks.com. Run both tools and watch all the digital cellulite melt away! Depending on the computer's age and use, you may notice a significant performance gain. (And certainly some extra drive space...)

Why remove all that software? It would take a lot of time. Does she need all that room, or does she think "more stuff installed makes the computer slow" (a common misconception)? My dad's machine has about 750 gigs of drive space and it's almost full. (LOTS of work stuff, LOTS of music. )

If they're just random non-installed games you can just throw them any ol' place.

yeah they are installed. she has the "more stuff makes a computer more slow" theory, and I would like to have them on the computer upstairs.

Hide all the games' start menu folders. (Take all the game shortcuts and put them in a folder like C:\WINDOWS\msagent\intl\games or something. (People who don't know a lot about computers are generally afraid to click on anything outside the Start menu or the My Documents folder.) Chances are she won't notice. If she catches you playing a game, tell her "I just left this one." And later on if you play another one, say "I got rid of that one and installed this one."

well I deleted the shortcuts and said that was uninstalling the games. I still have it them in a folder though.
