Uh, no. threads die. It's a natural thing. And don't bump them without a good reason. It's not natural, and people will hate you (more) for it.

and people hate me, I know. without good reason. this thread surely isn't dead is it? I just want to keep it alive. people still haven't posted their occupation. Was my bump in good reason?

If it's a week old, and no updates are expected, (such as for a project that is in progress) it's probably about dead. And keep in mind, many people here are fairly young and don't really have a job just because of their age. Also, it's not really crucial to anything other than curiosity to know people's occupation so I'd say no, this bump probably isn't in good reason. But what I'm about to do after this post is...
