Can you download Linux?

I heard in some posts, you can download Linux, does anybody know where from?

Here is where I go looking for large list of distros.

They have all the mainstream and some other not so well known distros.

if you find the homepage of the distro you want they have mirrors. If it's a commercial one (like SuSE) you'll need to look around, as it's kinda hard to find sometimes.

Yeah. I'm Trying to get Lindows/Linspire, and am having trouble finding a free version...

Well you can download SuSE 9.0 and 9.1 at linuxiso.org, and Distrowatch has a link to every distro's home page they have up.

As for Linspire.... there are better distros. I havent heard very good things about them, esspecally how all the things they have for being compatible with Windows are free and they charge like $50 a year. I would say try out Fedora my teacher make it clear several times that RedHat/Fedora is great for beginers but thats about it.

fedora is a great begginers distro, easy to install, and standardized look and feel by redhat, with a good package manager (yum) and regular updates. Suse is very nice to, as is mandrake.

If you want something like lindows I have a copy of winlinux. Works pretty good and it's basically just a windows program that's a linux os.

Oh? How do I install it?
Also, will it work well on my machine?

I have a Celeron running @ 902MHz,
384MB SDRAM
40GB HDD(15GB free, will soon install my 80GB unless I get a good stand-alone distro for my Duron 750)
Windows XP Pro, SP2

You just install it under windows as a standard application. I'll pm you a link once I put it up.
