This doesn't quite have anything to do with the forum style, but do you think that you could have the forums open in the same window? I think the general web design rule of thumb is to have it open in a new window/tab if (and only if) it is going to an external site.

Haha, loving these random pics!

Eh, I'm not really busy, I just lack the skills to make a phpBB theme. :P
If you made it into a theme though, that'd be awesome!
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

I've split the topic in two separating the flames from the intellectual posts. :P

Hopefully we can maintain a level of calm this time.

We can change the look of the forums, but I spent WAY too much time on the main page, so it stays.

Quick repost.

With the wireframe consoles.

If you're going to use the main site, but with the scanlines, at least make the edges better, and space out the scan lines a bit better, e.g. at a ratio of 3:1 as opposed to 1:1.

Hopefully, Ben will actually respond this time rather than ignore my efforts..

I don't think that un-shinying the front page is necessary. Most, if not all, of the images will go into the cache, so download time shouldn't be an issue. I like Iam's design better than the light blue layout, simply because it goes with the site.

What if we just use Hatrix's logo? That's the best part, the "sea of blue" below it is confusing and needs separation.

-Ben

Note: use the Benheck.com logo from the PSD file above, the "benheck.com" you have isn't right.

Although this is for random avatars, it will work with other images as well.

Best way to do it is to make a folder with the script, the .htaccess file, and the images in it. Then, any page can access that image, and it will work perfectly. It's the same script I use for my avatars.

I think the logo with no consoles on it at all is best. Throwing extra stuff in makes it feel a little busy.

Speaking of busy, here's some buttons and stuff:

<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... on_aim.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... n_edit.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... _email.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... on_icq.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... con_ip.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... n_msnm.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... con_pm.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... rofile.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... _quote.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... on_www.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... on_yim.gif">

<img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... ewpost.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... 1/post.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... locked.gif"> <img src="http://bicostp.portablesofdoom.org/foru ... /reply.gif">

I think some of the shadow effects on the fonts makes them a little bit more difficult to read, but they're still plenty legible.

Comments? Sugegstions? (I'm not changing the scanlines because then the buttons wouldn't go with the main page, which we're following.)

Looks nice, bic. When I work on the theme later, I'll add those in.
