CD drive replacement

I bought a PSone with a few nice extras at a garage sale for $30 this past summer and I was planing to open it but i never got around to it. when i can home for thanksgiving it caught my eye and decided to open it up. It seems the CDROM module is excessively massive and takes up a large amount of space. I was thinking that maybe with little coxing that a modified laptop disk drive could dramatically change this, and probably be less taxing on the battery.

PSones do seem to use a standard disk drive connection (i hooked up my CD player's drive to it and it connects) so if laptops also use the same connection, it should woork. good luck

Ya, my portable CD player used the same connector for the data, so it could probably work. It had a different power connector though, so you would need to take the power cable and solder the original PS1 disc drive power cable to it (after tracing the signals, which doesn't take too long; I did it in about 3-5 minutes)

So did it work, I detect a really thin portable on the horizon if you got the power working.

I always wished this could work on the PStwo. That way you could make really cool laptop pstwo's.
