I need pros and cons

Post by Retromaster »

I am investing in the idea of buying some game systems later and you would be amazed to know that I do not own some of the most COMMON ones. (I guess it's safe for you guys to say "Retromaster my ass.")

So before I choose one, I need to know the pros and cons of each- so I don't buy a piece of junk.

I need pros and cons of these systems-
sega saturn
super nes
Game boy micro
Atari 800
gameboy pocket
Atari lynx
GP2X

and some others that I can't think of, so stay tuned.

Why? Why do you want to buy consoles? Are you going to portabalize, just play them, save them, or what?

Saturn- Pros: better 2D games than PS1
exclusive titles
Internal Memory
Cons: Expensive
3D not aging well
less titles than PS1 (around 350 vs. 1000)

Saturn is great man, just dont buy games that are also on playstation. Except for Resident Evil, it has some exclusive stuff in it.

Hah, I've gotten that sort of thing at school. Everyone thinks it's a PSP.

I'd say grab a GP2X and a SNES. GP2X is just awesome at homebrew/emulators/stuff and has a great community at http://gp32x.com, and SNES is good for portablizatioin (not that I would know; I haven't exactly built a portable yet, but I'm working on it). Also, SNES is probably (IMO) the best 2D system.

Cons of GP2X: not locally available, less-than-spectacular battery life (especially if you overclock), expensive

Cons of SNES: can't think of any really :P

yeah House of the Dead is on Saturn. A bit pricey for a complete one, which I assume comes with a gun and a slick outer cardboard box. There's a disk only one on the eBay for $4 currently.

So about how much do saturns go for these days? surely 32 bit isn't that bad....you know....when I was little....they always said that you could not get old game systems if they were obsolete....BUT THEY WERE WRONG........

OK....i'll probably raid ebay.....
But before I get a saturn, other priorities are at foot. I need to aquire:
NPF550 sony info battery
ps1 screen
ps1

YOU SHALL see the ps1 laptop if I aqquire these first....

Anybody have any reason I shouldn't get a saturn people?
any other system that I might like more?
FIGHT!
