That was the first try. Personally, I think MIT is over-rated, I'm not even applying there. I'm not saying they're not an awesome school, because they are, they're just too damn competitive, that's why I plan on going to Renssealer or Stevens, similar quality, more laid-back atmosphere.

yeah, plus MIT is extremely expensive. My local college choice (Michigan Tech) is 1/3rd the price

Tell me more of these schools black six! I knew mit was overly competitive, but I didn't know of any alternatives besides caltech, which, by the time I'm going to college, will be on the otherside of the us. Also, sweet for the first try, now I need to go study for 2 straight years so I can get a 1501! woot! Actually, it's pretty cool, cause I should be graduating high school at 16

I am going to the marysville art and tech school, it's in washington, and is funded by bill gates. Guess what the mascot is: a penguin! great isn't it! I may get kicked out though, when they find out I like and use linux

Note: I am 13.

Edit: back to macs, what is this about an xga screen for the macmini? And a battery?

To gannon; the other schools I mentioned are only a couple thousand/year less than MIT, so they're still pretty expensive.

My local tech school is NJIT, or New Jersey Institute of Technology, which is in Newark. For anyone who has ever flown into New Jersey, there's a chance you got some kind of view of Newark, and for those of you who have been there, it's not a nice place, and the school isn't that great. But if I wanted to, I could go there, or any other state school, for free.
To jellywerker; that's exactly why (IMO) these schools are better. Because they're not as well known, fewer people apply, and they then have a better chance of getting in. These people apply there for a reason, becausethey know what they want to do (or a have a good idea) and know that's the best place for them.

Back from school, now where was I..?
Right, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was voted Princeton Review's 'Most Wired College.' It is also one of the oldest technical schools in the country, predating MIT, IIRC. They're in Troy, New York, which is right by Albany. Despite its age, it has a very modern curriculum, which is very flexible and allows people to either focus on a specific area or spread themselves out across a variety of topics. Of interest, they offer a degree in 'Electronic Arts and Multimedia,' and offer a minor in video game design.

Stevens Institute of Technology is also an old school from back in the 1800s at some point. They're very small, with (this is off the top of my head, and may be completely off) around 4000 undergrads. It's in Hoboken, NJ, right across the river from NYC. They also have flexibility in their degrees, and offer (for really insane/smart people) a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's in five years (you can do the traditional 4/4 if you want as well). They also offer a video game minor.

Oh yeah, another thing about RPI, you're only required to take one english course there your entire four years, and if you get a 700 or higher on your verbal SATs, or get a 4 or 5 on the AP english exam, you're exempt. That's a big selling factor for me.

Another college you may want to look into is Rose-Hulman. They're out in Ohio or Indiana I believe, and are purportedly the 'premier' engineering school in the country. I didn't look there because the location disinterested me, but you may feel otherwise.

RPI im trying to get in there. My dad got his phd there. I might do a 3 2 program with siena thoguh

RPI sounds good, I'll check it out, hopefully the latin classes I am taking will get me a 700+ on the sat verabal, that and the lots of reading I do. The east coast factor is good too.

I am still learning, but I think it means this: "Who is guarding the gaurds?" the tenses and stuff might be messed up though, we have'nt learned "guard" yet, so I looked it up in a latin to english dictionary. (And those are hard to find, but we have one!)

Yep! Its "Who will guard the guards" or "Who is guarding the guards".

So who thinks asking apple to make a traverling add-on to the mac mini would be a good idea? It could have a screen, a battery, a carrying case and maybe a wireless keyboard mouse set.

Well I like the cute little tux from DSL.

And does anyone else find it odd that they bothered to but the ingrediance list on the side of the juice box. When we all know that Microsoft would rather cural up and die before revealing what code they have in their OSs.

Now back on topic.
The mini I dont thing it would make sence to have wireless keyboard and mouse if your going to travel with it. Also its just a 7" screen (smallest you'll find I bet) will not help you too much.

But FYI, if you look on lowendmac.com they have an article about comparing price of a Mac mini to three other PC dealers (Gateway, Dell and HP) its interesting to read, though I think its a little bias.[/url]
