Camera broken...FOREVER?

Post by Retromaster »

I owned an epson L500v. it was my first camera. and I loved it. It took thousands of pictures that were all then dumped onto my computers hardrive....NEVER to be touched again......One day, while logging on to benheck. com to take pictures of my door alarm circuit for timmeh87, something REALLY BAD happened.....the relative of mine never cleans it's desk (I ain't given a gender, mind you...) so when it walked in.......
the camera was slanted on a mound of papers.....and the realative....BRUSHED it to the floor! it fell a good 3 1/2 feet from the desk......I could.....see it in slow motion.....as it plumeted to it's doom....
 ........I couldn't save it.....IT HIT THE FLOOR........I jumped to the ground and picked it up,......trying to test it.......but it was bad.........
no damage is visible on the outside,...but it's what's on the inside that counts......I turned it on......it was on view mode.....everything looked ok......but then I switched to camera mode.....and it wouldn't work.............I mean, you could see really blurry outlines of color objects on the screen,.......but it wouldn't focus or take pictures..................It doesn't make the boot up sound it usually makes when I turn it on...that wonderful sound  ...... Does anyone know what the problem is? are the light intake phototransistors broken?
is there any way to fix it!? (although I might be frowned upon for taking apart my camera, which has overdue warranty anyway...) HAS MY CAMERA DIED? fight for an answer, people!

im surprised that an electrical engineer dosent even know how a digital camera works (phtototransistors?)

anyways. sounds kinda like a lens is busted, or a lens drive motor or something. like it cant focus on anything.

cant say anything about the missing sound.

last time i opened a digital camera, it never worked again. they are pretty delicate (i was also drunk. long story)

anyways.

Since when do you think i'm an engineer? I'm not even old enough to drink BEER!

Yeah once you break those things, you're pretty much screwed.

By the way, digital cameras use charged cathrode devices to detect light, not "phototransistors". (Aren't those the things in night-lights that make them turn on in the dark?)

I guess I need to learn more about cameras....I'm focusing most of my time in game system...BECAUSE THEY'RE BETTER.....but, of course....you need something to PHOTOGRAPH the project with it....
I always thought phototransistors detected light for some reason...
and why, yes, it is used in night lights....
so I guess I should search the internet for a replacement...THE SAME ONE OF COURSE.....that was the best camera I ever had  (and the only..) I really need a camera soon to photograph the ps1 laptop, WHICH in fact I WILL do so I can show you people.
