New Benheck.com site actually starting to look like somethin

Post by benheck »

Yes I spent all day yesterday redoing the layout. Check it out!

http://benheck.com/WordPress1/

Seems to have some issues in IE 7, hm... Still, it's getting close and looking good!

Cool comments feature, I like that. You may want to change its color, though, since the standard blue hyperlink doesn't go well with the background

Forums and download links give 404. Besides that everything seems to work in Firefox 2.0.0.1.

This is just me, but I think the big logo at the top should link back to the index page. (The one you come to when you type "benheck.com" into the address bar.)

Everything else seems like it's working fine. But why can't it find any record of the nPod?

Oh, and the "forums" button at the top links to http://benheck.com/WordPress1/phpbb/index.php/

It would also be nice to have the right side column like you have on the current ("temporary") homepage. (The links to individual projects are convenient. 8))

EDIT: There's a bug! *STOMP* Eew... bug juice. :(

Just me, or does the link/comment bg image have a 1px line at the bottom?
edit: not the image, so it must be style related

Every thing I tried looked good in FF 2.0.0.1 and Opera 9.1.

One suggestion: Could the numbers representing the comments in the 'Most Recent Comments Section" be a different color? It looks a little odd right now when the topic-title the comments are for ends in a number. Example:

Code: Select all

Most Recent Article Comments

    * Single-handed Xbox 360 Controller Revision 2 - Right Hand  1
      bicostp
    * Ghost Town Documentary "Echoes of the Past" 1

    * Wii Laptop "Making Of" - Part 1  1     <--

UPDATE - I am going in and changing the layout. Don't worry, most of the work I've done is with PHP and HTML so it's not a huge deal.

I just want this to be GOOD. I am going with a more standard "fixed width" layout, using 964 as the width.

There's no grey bar/ whatever's replacing the grey bar at the side...but there was the first time I looked. It had the archives and stuff, and moved to the bottom the next time. But it looked bad up at the top, all squished in with the left-aligned 1/3-of-my-screen updates.

And as for IE users, let them suffer. They deserve to be in pain and agony. :lol:

EDIT: Ahh it changed again???

This is what it looks like for me. If this is how it's supposed to look, and you want it to be as perfect as possible, you should fiddle with it a bit.

Harshboy's mockup looks great. (The half-grey content pane is kind of distracting, but other than that it looks like the jist of the wordpress install as of now.

I think the floating, fixed box in the middle looks better than the full width layout.

Overall it's good, but about the news and archive stuff....WHERE ARE THE PICTURES AND STORIES? it was best that way. Or did you just not add them yet....?
It's good.....

EDIT: I'm gonna miss the old design... :cry:.............it's the one I always loved and new. BUT changes must come forth!
