PS1 power hours!

Post by Retromaster »

I am attempting to build the cheapest, fastest, easiest, and only ps1 laptop in the history of the world!! It should take me an hour and a half at the least (or even less)! but there's a catch though...I plan on not doing an led mod right away because it won't run off batteries right away, is harder, makes the screen dimmer, and will contribute to the overall time. but it will run off batteries soon, and I was wondering how badly the battery life (sony infolithium if you will  ) would be cut if I left it un led modded. I want a good battery life compared to that crappy mobile power 1 battery pack for ps1 gave, which was a piece of junk. DO NOT GET IT. it may sound cool, but it sucks! it was a stupidly designed nicad battery that hardly charged and hardly had any life. so any one have any answers?

I think you've been beaten to the PSone laptop, just put the screen on the back. Easy enough for a 3 year old, so it should be right in your league.

I believe the PSone itself pulls about 500 milliamps of current, and add about 750 for the un-LED modded screen. In all, this pulls more than an amp of power. (About 1.25) If you want it to last 2 hours, you'll need at least 2500 mah batteries. (Enough of them to supply the correct voltage.) These are just estimates; I have no idea what the draw is exactly.

Please don't use such empty threats as persuasion.

You are wrong, I don't hate you. I don't have the time to hate people I don't really know.
That was the best post I've seen from you. No RANdoM cAPs or anything. Keep it up and I might tolerate you better. And please get access to a camera, I want to see some of the stuff you've done.

BTW: My name is"vskid", not "vs kid". If it was "vs kid", I would have made it that. Its an abbreviation of parts of my name, which I won't tell you.

if you're wondering why it'll take me so little time, it's because of this:
1)get ps1 and screen off ebay (this is taken from total time)
2)get mini cash box (already have that)
3)take out motherboards of ps1 and screen and place velcro on the boards.
4)place velcro on cash box interior
5)place SPST switch on disk shut button
6)wire up battery terminals(molex connectors, if you will  )
7)place boards in casing
8)add a battery, disk, and a push of the power switch
9) should work  (unlike the ngadget, which is now in the scrap pile...maybe someday it'll work.)
10)play to your hearts content.

this is much more complex than it sounds, this is just the summarized version, cause the long version takes up a lot of space.

the good side's of this project are this:
can be locked to keep thieves out,
looks cool,
looks like a laptop,
much more efficient  ,
Can have the screen and board moved around to fit other stuff,
and can store controllers and games and other stuff rather than having a seperate bag for everything,
IT WILL be cool when you see it in the news section, trust me

no offence to you but i will belive it when i see it, words are nice and all but NOBODY will belive ANYTHING you say untill you have some way to substantiate all of your claims. my suggestion to you is buy a cheap 1-3mp digital camera from ebay. also it is frowned upon to play moderator, please stop saying your going to get people banned etc. because in all likelyhood it isnt going to happen.

yes, I know I can't get anyone banned.
I'm just tired of getting pms saying i'm stupid. And I probably am.
I know everyone belives it when they see it. maybe if imageshack took the files my mom's camera has I could post pics. does photo bucket take all files? if so I can post a pic with my mom's camera that I found. If so, post a link because I don't know it's url completely.
You WILL see the ps1 laptop soon. just watch. although I haven't got the parts yet, I can still make this pretty fast. Does photobucket work just like imageshack?

EDIT: NEVERmind....I realized you have to be a member in order to use it.
alright, guess i'm buying a new camera. Epson L500V again you think?
or perhaps something better? what are your suggestions?

EDIT EDIT: I haven't started yet.
that's why I can't post pics yet. and some other reasons such as why I think it's stupid that imageshack doesn't take jpegs, which is a common data file. Someone needs to update that....

Imageshack wrote:allowed: jpg jpeg png gif bmp tif tiff swf < 1.5 megabytes.
Are the pictures less than 1.5MB? If its a good camera, the pictures can be pretty big. Thats the only thing I can think of.

You know you can resize pictures, right?

Either lower the resolution on the camera or use software to make them smaller.
