Megadrive On A Chip?

Post by Rellizate »

Hey, I was browsing ebay, and I came accross what appears to be a genesis on a chip. Is it? Would it be ok for portables?

Looks like a PAL version of the Radica Genesis to me. It should work.

Great. Does anyone have any info on it, or any pictures of the guts?

I used one of those on mine the cart port is tough to solder up but other than that its pretty simple to make porta

a small spot of advice is do not take the rom chip off just solder to its connections and cut the traces on top of the chip if you really want to disable built in games ( now I have to go and repair the traces i cut so i can play the games)

the best i can tell is that you can leave the rom chip intact and when you put a cart into the slot it auto defaults to the cart so that could be a good way to make a porta that has more capabilities

Hell yeah, cut the traces on the chip. Or disconnect pin 1

So if pin 1 is disconnected it looks for a cart and if it is connected it looks for built in games?

Basically yes, you might have to put a switch on the card adapters ground line as well.

Switching on pin 1 is difficult as the point is so small.
