Gamegear Case

How well would a Gamegear case suit a NOAC portable?

I am new to Portablizing, and havn't made a single yet, I havn't Purchesed Ben's book yet but I plan to here soon (Used because I am not paying 30 bucks new I'll get it 12 used.)

And would the Gamegear screen be any good? or Should I throw it aside and get a different screen. I really dont care about Battery life as Long as I get at least 1 and a half hours of Battery life.

And I know the GG screen has a Flourescent Tube as a Backlit screen (I pretty much take apart anything Electronic that gets into my hands.)

And which NOAC would you reccomend I start with.

Srry if this should go into the 8-bit Nintendo section but I had more questions on the Case I should use.

I dont feel like useing Plastic cases that I have to cut because, I really dont know what proper tools I should use to cut them, and I want them to look nice, thats why I wanted to use a Gamegear Case that I found at Goodwill for 3 bucks.

No, the Gamegear screen will not work. Check the Screen info sticky.

It depends if you want to pay NES carts or the built in games, For the NES carts (if you dont want to solder on a 72 pin cart slot) go with a Yobo. If you just want to play the built in games, I'd say go with a Super joy 3.

I wouldnt Mind Soldering a 72-pin connector.

Also what would be the Cheapest, and Besides Ebay where can I find these NOACs.

Probably Goodwill if your lucky. Yesterday I walked in and they had one for 6 bucks. I've been going there on a regular basis since around June and thats the first one I've seen there. But then again it all depends on how much stuff is donated in the first place.

You could always try seeing if any members here have one the'ye willing to sell.

I accually did find one there, but I couldnt find who made it, but it had a 62-pin connector, it was green and was a console, and it had PS1 style Controllers, and a Light Gun. BUT it had tons of Blown Capasitors and looked like tons of Resistors and Capasitors were removed, but its have a Chip that looked Similar to most NOACs, and it also had the Same Crystal used for the Clock signal in the NES, I Threw away the Board with the Blown Capasitors and AV out put (I wasnt thinking) and threw away the Plastic Caseing so I dont remember the Name of the NOAC (If thats what it is) and I threw away the Controller board, but all the Pins the Ribbon cables Connected to are still there is just missing a lot of the Circuitry for the A/V output and Power, I will get a scan of what I kept.

Hmm. It looks like that ribbon cabe might have been attached to the audio, video, and power board....

If you can figure out which pin is ground, then through some testing you can probably figure out the rest of the pinouts.

For example, once you found ground try looking for the +5v and video, etc...

Yeah, now I just need to get a multimeter to try to find the Pin outs.
