ok, i did nothin' to the history channel, but some weird letter came in the mail and said something about a membership... how did they get my address!

Many companies share the addresses of their clients, including such businesses as cable companies and even state universities. Getting junk mail is nothing to get upset about. If you aren't interested in whatever they're hawkin', shred it, trash it, and move on.

i don't think it was junk mail, it came with all this wierd stuff like a card that looks like a credit card or something, just my opinion on it tho

It's probably junk mail. Shred the forms with your name on them, cut the card up, and throw it away.

I've been getting stuff like that from CapitalOne ever since I took out a student loan. (New forms come every couple weeks!) I also get transfer forms for a college we looked at and hated. Shredding stuff is fun! :D

The only other possibility is that a relative bought you a membership or something. Does it come with any application forms and a return envelope?

I've gotten those pesky credit cards before. They are usually fake and are useless so you don't need to worry about a thing.
