Mobile Screens:Which can operate @< 12V? The NOACs need Y

I'm looking around eBay and noticing all these great, cheap 12v lcds. BUT, I typically don't like to leave the 7.2v happy place that my NOAC, GOAC and 7805 know and love... Has anybody gotten these to run lower than 12v?
I know Ben's Micro can... but those screens are $ I don't have.

The ebay car screen(Hellraiser's 2.5 inch) that I've been dealing with seems like it would run off of 7.2... What the actual draw is I couldn't tell you though.

The Hip Gear screen can run off 6V. My NESp has a NOAC and a Hip Gear Screen happily running off 4 standard AA batteries.

looking for something other than the screen pads... those are getting a little scarse, and I'm hoping to find a good alternate for the hobby's sake.

like troy said, lots of these small car screens out there and they run off less then 12 v and are pretty cheap and easy to mod.
