So has anyone gotten a PSOne screen to run on 5V or 12V?

I see lots of talk about getting it to work off of one or the other, but it seems no one has gotten it to work yet.

I tried swapping out one of the 7805 regulators for a 5V LDO reg and ain't happnin'. I need to go back and check on this, but I'm curious if anyone else, for all the talk here, has gotten the PSOne screen to work on 5 or 12V.

I dont see 12v as a problem as the 7805 can handle up 36v they say.

And the LDO, it should work, unless you dont have it ground or something. But I doubt you'd over look something as like that.

Well, he said he only swapped one of the 7805's out, but there are 2 in the screen. I think that's the problem

I dunno, at higher voltages the screen starts getting out of whack......which means the power probably goes somewhere else besides the 7805s. I'll have to look into that......

I should see something though. I have to check again.

But for all the people suggesting LDO replacements, have any of you tried it?

I've been wondering this too myself, since i'd rather just wire it directly into a 12V source that i have in my car, then trying to wire up something to reduce it to 7.5 before it hits the lcd monitor.

i tried hooking up a 10V ac adapter i had from my old gamegear, it turned on but the screen was screwed up, constanly scrolling up and tagged so i guess while it can take the higher voltage it wont' display right

which is exactly why the power must be going somewhere else if at only 10v the picture is distorted..........I'll go get a spare board and check it out now

ok, I traced the 7.5v line around the board and it goes to a bunch of ICs, so that's probably the reason it gets distorted at higher voltages.....

For a 12 V modification:

Install a pair of 7808s in parallel(or reverse the polarity on 7908s)on the 12V plug in for 8V, 2Amp into the screen.

would it be possible to replace the pair or 7805's with a pair of 7812's , would that work or am i totaly off base?

Your crazy. That would put 12v into chips that can only handle 5v.

so where exactly would i have to wire the 7808s in order for it to accept a 12V input? somewhere between the 12V source and the 7805's?
