Jornada questions

Hey cronotrigger, could you post a picture of it? I've wanted to get one and I wanted to see how small it really is.

Sure! I'll throw one up tomorrow. Although a kind PM to remind me would probably help.

Although if you are considering gettting one, there's absolutely no question about it; grab it up fast! It's such an awesome little product. All the apps and customizations you can do on it, it's great; functions as an amazing video/music player on top of a speedy web browser, word processor, etc. etc. It just does so much.

Although to give you a hint about the size, it's small. I thought it would be much bigger and bulkier than what it really was, but boy was I wrong. But don't let that scare you away from the keyboard; it does take a bit of getting used to, but I can now type full speed on it no problem after only a couple of hours. And the screen is quite large, too, although it does have some motion-blur (I think it's STN). But no big deal, the pros FAR outweigh the cons!

EDIT: Forgot to tell you guys I got TCPMP working. Well, not it EXACTLY, but a hacked version called Media Player from someone over at HPC Factor. It's a cool little media center; has more options, file support, and FPS than the original version!

Well, I bought a Jornada with a docking cradle, power and what not. All for $90! As well as a 1GB CF card, and a wireless card.

As nice as that is I still don't have any software or games for it. Do any of you guys know of a website or somethign where I can download some?

For those of you that have them how are the jornada as media players and such, imean if they can play video then maby they could be good as substitutes for mp3 players

Just read your thread on the matter, marshall, and I noticed you talked about emulating SNES; have you been able to get anything NEAR full speed, or even something playable? I've been using snex9j2e, but I've heard some good things about MorphGear and snesCE as well; but since it was all so dang slow, especially with audio, I just stick to Yame for NES and GBC.

For media players, the Jornada is quite good. A program called TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) plays almost every video and audio file imaginable, and there is a hacked version by someone over at the HPCFactor forums that's even better. Although I've found that if your quality is too high, then the file is usually quite skippy; I've been using AoA media converter and converting large files to small mp4s. Also, the display is a passive matrix, so some may be bothered by the evident "ghosting". However, for everything else it does, there's nothing better for the price.
