I was going through some old messages I had saved off newsgroups a while back, and when I read a few of them again, I found this joke.

Windows 95: 32-bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16-bit patch to an 8-bit operating system originally coded for a 4-bit microprocessor, written by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

Wait, since when was the 8088 a 4-bit processor? MS-DOS was written for the 8088, which was a 16-bit processor w/ an 8-bit bus! Heck, the only reason the IBM PC used the 8088 instead of the 8086 was so it'd be easier to interface with off-the-shelf hardware

Oh, BTW, 64-bit builds of Windows (whether XP or Vista) are NT based, which started on 32-bit processors.

best I could think of... I suppose it makes things a bit confusing, but that may actually be a good thing
