Xbox 360 Tilt Controller Mod

I recently finished my Xbox 360 tilt controller mod.

As you might be able to tell by the name it allows you to use the tilt of the controller for your control in game. In this case the tilt of the controller takes over the left analog stick on the Xbox 360 controller. The tilt is determined using an accelerometer and is very smooth. It is identical to the tilt sensing technology in the Nintendo Wii remote.

WOW! UN-FREAKIN-BELIVEABLE! Probably is hard to control though.

Actually the control is surprisingly good. I was very impressed the first time I tested it out when I found out there is no noticeable lag. Also, I can program how sensitive I want the tilt to be. For example, right now the Y-axis maxes out at 30 degrees of tilt and the X-axis maxes out at 45 degrees of tilt. I can take those as high as 90 and as low as I want.

The control for different games varies, but I have enjoyed every game I have tested it with so far.

Nice. Sweet idea. It would be better if that PCB on the back was inside the controller though.

Indeed very impressive. Especially cause I've seen some 3rd party stuff that does this for the PS2 but it was extremely expensive (like 150$ or so). Too bad you aren't able to use the point and click ability's of the Wii-mote, that would be Ã¼ber awesome

sammy - That 3rd party stuff you have seen for the PS2 sounds very interesting. Do you have a link? On a related note, I think the board I made for the 360 can be adapted to work on the PS2...

Rellizate - I originally planned for it to be in the controller, but it is just too hard if not impossible to do. The board needs to stay un-angled or it will throw off your center point. With it on the inside that would be a pain to mess with. On the outside you can actually add tape, etc. and adjust the center point. It comes in handy. Also, it is so small you don't even know it is there. You don't feel it with your fingers or anything.

It's a very cool idea, however, what games are you using it for? I can't playing Gears like that.

Nevermind, I can see it comes in great handy while playing any racing/flying game, hadn't thought of that. Great mod!

Awesome mod! Some games wouldn't really work right with this, but it would fit some perfectly!

Well maybe you could put a plastic box around it on the back. And bondo/epoxy it there.
I dunno, I just don't like having electronics sticking out the back of things. I guess it is your call though.
