British perspective of the Revolutionary War

I read that usually, if a war is lost by a country, it's erased from its history books. So the question was spawned. What do British Textbooks teach about the American Revolution? Does it say that we revolted? Does it say that freedom was granted due to discontent? The U.S. erased how we "aquired" land from Hawii and Mexico, so do British textbooks erase that?

We learnt about England itself. Wish we did the American Revolution though, its more interesting. Only read American books about it.

It's kinda funny that in American textbooks it says that Canada was ruled by England for a long time, and they asked for freedom, and England said, "Sure, Okay." But in America, we had to fight a war. Also, they didn't tax Canada.

I've also heard hat canada hasn't really done anything on a grand scale (William Shatner isn't THAT big, he's big I mean BIG!, but not WAR big)

I think the stance of the Brits is that it was a wrong to fight their own 'brothers' (these are ppl that were living in a country colonized by England remember?) There's also tales of entire hordes of Brittish soldiers closing their eyes when they discharge their fire-arms, and calling the war an 'atrocity'. But of course, I learned this in college, from a fellow "Yank" so I don't know it's validity.

Canada's just lucky to be situated directly north of the most powerful nation on Earth. Seriously, does anyone think the United States would allow a hostile force into Canada, what with our nice, long, poorly gaurded mutual border?

What I really dislike are the so-called US "territories." I'm about ready to see a couple new States and a couple new stars added to the flag.
