The AV cables that look like headphone jacks, but with three plastic divider rings instead of two, would work well. They're pretty standard, too.
@Teraflop: Mmmhmm. Well, back to the drawing board I guess. :P
I know, I know; I usually go way to far into the language theory part of marketting. I guess I shouldn't be shooting things down left and right after I myself told you "to do whatever the hell you want." :P

Make it have a good abbriviation instead of a name... Noone wants to say:

"Hey, yesterday I was playing BB and I got a new high score!"
"Holy crap! You beat Micheal Jordan!?!"
"No."
"You shot up an army with a BB gun?
"No!"
"You were being a B?"
"NONONO!!!"
"WTF did you do?"
"I beat a game on my black box!"
"Xbox?"
"NO!"
"VCR?"
"damn you!" *walks away*

Think it through....

use a usb cable and make a cheapo junction box. usb extension cables arent expensive and are very small and for a small cable it shouldnt hurt the picture/sound quality too much.

If you're going the portable route...

While of course you might want to make your own custom case for it to sell, etc., I think it'd be awesome if you sold "kits" to us here on this forum. That way we could all build our own custom cases, with the buttons, screen (hip gear vs. psone), etc the way we want.

Once you decide on all the features you want on it, you could even host a contest for us to design and build the "best" case for it, and then you could use that as the template for the one you mass produce. It'd be awesome.

Dude, when I first glanced at your post, my mind saw that sentence as "Catch32", which, now that I think about it, would be an awesome name. You know, like "catch-22" but 32 bit. Haha. :D

Then again, "catch-22" is generally not a positive phrase. Still...!

Now that is cool.

What did you design the schematics in? If they're in Eagle, any chance you could pass a copy to me? I'd love to beta this.

EDIT: nvm, I found em. So the portable version doesn't have an analog stick?

I assume if you redesign my board using SMD components you can make it pretty small.

@joe: My schematics are in ExpressPCB. VB has a copy in Eagle, but their pretty outdated now.

@vb: Yeah, I'm making the new board with SMD components. I think I could possibly make a portable board with thru-hole, but I don't want to drill tons of little holes for my home-etched version. And SMD can just be smaller.

@Triton: I was thinking about those. Do they have 'em at Digi-Key?
