why sneses become discolored?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Yes, it sucks. My first gen SNES (the one with the seperate sound module) has a yellowing top. My second gen SNES (not mini) has perfect color still.

My brother bought a Super Scope in the box. The gun is mint condition, but the reciver is the color of that guy's SNES. :(

Strangely enough it looks like it came from the factory that way. Maybe it's the lighting that males it look better, since I haven't seen a discolored SNES in a while.
