The Nintendo Glii (previously named the Nintendo Weapon, an ultra-cool name that would be too hard for their young audiences to pronounce)

This system uses almost high definition graphics and doubles as a dvd player! Control is given using not one, but five motion sensors, one for each limb and one for the torso. Vibration function is present. Syetem is fully backwards compatible, including Virtual Console titles. Launch titles include: The Legend of Zelda (title not confirmed), Super Mario Universe, Mario Party Eleventyone, and Super Smash Brawlers. The Virtual Console has been revamped and now contains classics such as Shaq-Fu and Superman64, but don't worry, we'll eventually release games that aren't crap, we promise! This console only costs $400! (you get what you pay for)

The Sony Playstation 4 (PS4)

Gone from our controllers is the motion sensing capability you've grown to love and replacing it is.... (drum roll) a temperature changing controller! Step in lava and feel the controller get warmer (to about 90 degrees Fahrenheit)! Walk through a snowstorm and feel the controller chill to 40 degrees Fahrenheit! You may think it's dumb, but if you DO like it, we'll remove it from our next console! Watch for our commercials of the console causing your mother to spontaneously combust! Graphics are ultra -definition, which means you won't get the fullest experience unless you buy a UDTV (about 10 grand) and the sytem usees the new RedRay Discs, making games cost about $100 each. This console supports connectivity with the PSP2. Launch titles include Final Fantasy CLXVIII and some other titles that no one really cares about (that's why they don't have CLXVIII in their names) Camp out for two months and pay $1000 for this system. It's worth it!

Xbox 3 (It worked for Sony....)
This console is priced moderately at $600 for the basic console and $800 for the superconsole, which includes a wireless controller and a year subscription to Xbox live. This player doubles as a HDDVD player and with an addon, can play UDDVDs. the controller is basically the same as the 360, but who's gonna complain there?

My predictions:

Making every gamer around the globe be relieved it will also make them cry. Nintendo has stopped making consoles. They wil survive on handhelds with touch screens and such for a while. But eventually they'll be bought up by another company. (preferbly microsoft in my opinion)

Microsoft:

They have finnally made the xbox unhackeble. (and it might have another name now) They have bought Nintendo and are making portables. Xbox live has praticly all online market shares. And there nr. 1

Sony:

Sony stil has a new playstation. BUT their hardly keeping up with microsoft. Microsoft is kicking their ass. Due to Sony's arrogance they will go banktrupt. And their name will eventually be wiped from memory.

Unknown:

I think a new company wil arrise. Might even be a crash were microsoft wil die in. Kinda like atari and Nintendo.

Of course this is just theory we can't know for sure.

No, merely an extrapolation of current trends. If it makes you feel better, I don't own any consoles, unless you consider the DS a console.

I'd love to see a new console maker hit the market, because the current three are getting stale. Apple seems to be the only other contender, but I don't see them taking the plunge anytime soon. As for portables, well, we've all heard talk about a portable Xbox. I guess that would spice things up a bit.

How about Metroid 8 or 9? At least it sounds better than Star Fox 3...

They're on the right track with Apple TV, but it's still a long ways from a "console".

If any new company releases a game console it'll probably be like Panasonic or LG.

If people think SONY is expensive, then Apple can't enter the gaming market. A $600 cell phone is much stupider than a $600 console IMHO.

The next Xbox might be more like a total Media Center PC platform. MS is already making headway with the crap on the 360, and it's already connected to the TV putting ahead of many other "legal download" services.

Nintendo GameBox: All the latest re-hashes of games that are older than dirt! Amazing low-definition graphics! It might even play audio CDs! You can buy 30 year old games for $2.50, 20 year old games for $5, or 10 year old games for $29.99 (or 1832845234 NintenBucks). Amen Bic, amen. Yeah Nintendo certainly has dropped the ball on all things that are supposed (or have the ability) to look and sound great. I like the Gamecube so I'll just stick with it and Legend of Zelda.

Nintendo - they're doing a bit better lately. But, I think that's mainly due to Sony being dumb. Sure, the PS3 might be a "deal" for what you get, but really: who can just go buy one for $600? It's unrealistic. I think that Nintendo will continue on their current upswing with future consoles only if Sony keeps screwing up. With the exception of the Wiimote, I think Nintendo will continue to win with the KISS method.

Sega? Who? That company that made that game with a blue squirrel? They'll keep fading out, and won't come back.

I think Microsoft will continue to do well for a while, until they make a Sony-esque mistake - overpricing the console. This in turn will cause Nintendo, and the "other" console to thrive. I agree with Ben on this one - it'll be Panasonic, LG, Samsung, or maybe even one of the computer manufacturers.

I also think that one of the new KISS consoles, be it Nintendo or the "other" console, will use cartridges again. With the constant price drop of USB flash drives, and load times eventually being measured in minutes, some company will do it. It won't be a flash drive, but it'll be flash memory and a proprietary connector.

I also predict a new N-Gage type portable, that will operate over EVDO or similiar hi-speed cell signal.

Yeah I agree with you for once, $600 for an iPhone is Retarted, I'de rather spend My money on the Crappy PS3 than a 600 dollar phone/MP3 player.

It's simple actually, by the NNG there will be no more stand-alone consoles.

You see by that time there will be no more televisions and there will be no cable or sattelite either. All entertainment and news services will be done Over-IP. Combine this with the falling cost of low-mid end home computers, and monitor technologies and there is no need for a TV per-say, just a computer or two. There won't even be any analog video standards anymore, LCD controllers will become standardized and every computer will have on built in, taking away the need to have controllers built into the monitors*, making them cheaper still.

So what will we have instead?

Well the way I see it, people will eventually get tired of only have any good games for Windows, and various companies will produce their own gaming-centric OS's, which will be multibooted with what ever everyday OS the user has installed.

So my really lame named contestants are:

NintendOS, Apple iEngine, Microsoft Windows GameXT, Sony PlayTerminal, and NAXT (NAXT Ain't XT, Linux based, primarily community supported, with some comercial independant developer support).

Laugh if you will, but admit it would be fairly awsome in some respects.

*Slight problem with this idea, I guess you would need to get a new video card every time you wanted a different size, res, or shape LCD plate. I suppose you could build a couple common ones into the basic on MOBO units though, while also standardizing monitors into size, shape, and res grouping. And they'll have to find a way to re-enforce those anoying plastic see-thru connectors, anyone who has opened an LCD will know what I'm talking about, there the kind that tear easily and cant be fixed or replaced

Well

Sony: Committed suicide by setting price points waaaaay too high for people who would really use their products to be able to afford them.

Nintendog: Committed suicide by not taking into account that people over the age of 10y play games too and want games that are age appropiat and don't make you jump around the living room like a hyper active child off his ritilan

Micro-shaft: Continues to play the middle of the road by building game systems based off of pc's but not really making anything spectacular and still not having much game dev support (aside from halo)

LG: new player in the gaming market(lets face it these guys are into everything so its only a matter of time) Have a fairly advanced gaming system and lots of game dev support , the only problem is that the console looks like a toaster and the controller looks like a cell phone and people aren't too keen on using sim cards to load games

Radica: belive it or not these guys could become major players their little systems have gotten more advanced over the last few years and its only a matter of time before they build their own system

sega: bought by radica
