URGENT Audio help please! (page 2)

Sorry about the title, I couldnt resist

This is a Christmas present for my little brother. I knew I wasnt going to finish it so the quick-thinker that I am (this was all on Christmas Eve, BTW) I gave him a coupon for a NESp on Christmas day.

First, I cut out the controller and hip gear screen and glued it into the tackle box.

Then I bondoed (sp?) and sanded multiple times.

And then I painted!

And here's a mockup with the buttons. I don't know what happened to the NES controller buttons, so I used my GBO buttons from an earlier pNES that didnt quite make it.

All I have left to do is wire everything up and do a few finishing touches on the case.[/b]

*sirens*Sir, I'm going to have to place you under portable police arrest, because that thing is way too HOT to be legal. Seriously, it's looking nice.

The paint might look better if you wetsanded with some 400 grit and did another coat, but if you're happy with it WHO CARES.

Looking very snazzy! I appluad the fact it's a present, I could never give up my creations.

I agree with G, if you had sanded the bondo with a higher grit, the final paint would look smoother, but what you have made is very respectable.

Looks like G-force might be getting some bondoing competition.
Very nice looking, when do you expect to be done, and could you tell us more about what it'll have (battery size, cart slot or not, etc.).

You might want to paint the buttons. Fuscia doesn't look right on a portable NES.

Other than that, it's great!

okay here we go...

@G-Force- haha thanks. Yeah I'm gonna do another coat. I noticed a few rough spots after I painted. What exactly is wetsanding?

@Skyone- Thanks! Of course I will also have almost total control over it because I did make it after all

Ill have to run down to Ace Hardware or something and pick up some higher grit. I think the highest we have is like 220...

@vskid- I'm hoping to finish by the end of the week.
--no cart slot. I dont have many NES games and I dont trust my brother with them either...
--It will run off of 4 AA batteries (Ni-Mh rechargeables of course

)

@Gannonbanned- Thanks. I originally came up with the name for the NESp I was going to put in a GBO, but i fried the noac and screen so I gave up and went to work on my PSp.

@wallydawg- Ok so its not just me. When I was looking at the pictures of it, it reminded me of a Game Gear. but then again, this was at 3 in the morning so i just brushed it off thinking nothing of it.

@shmagoogin77- I found it by pure luck at Big 5 Sporting Goods.

@bicostp- I was just using the GBO buttons for the mockup. I will use the NES buttons once I find them...

wetsanding is oddly enough sanding something that is wet,

all you need to do is take yaour case and make sure everything electronic is far far away,

then fill a two liter bottle full with water, and poke two holes in it, one at the top and one near the botom, of couse the hole near the bottom will leak place that at a point where it resebles the male anatomy peeing on a bush,
however the male anatomy will be the bottle and the bush will be oyu case,

then slowly take your very fine grit sand paper and in a circular motion sand your case down, leaves a very nice smooth surface when you are done,

remember that wet sanding should feel slick, this means that the sand paper is not scoring into the surface, therby it leaves a nice smooth surface

Wet sanding is just a certain kind of sand paper that you dip in water to get it wet and help it sand smoother. It's usually found in the 300-600 grit range, and is dark gray in color. It will help a lot if you go with it.

wet sanding is mostly used in an automotive setting and I guess I am used to much larger projects, see I was always told you need constant running water to keep the grit flowing away from the work area
