Playstation 2 Linux

Ok first I know that the kit to do this isnt sold anymore, except on ebay for oh ~$300. Well for the past two days I have been downloading the two discs for Linux on the PS2.

A few questions. One has anyone done anything with this at all? Its be good to have someone to go to for referance or help. Two both images are over 1gb, so I want to make it so I can have both on one DVD. Three anyone know of a compatable hard drive, I dont want to waste money buying a game I will never play.

P.S. If/When I get the two images fully downloaded and can burn them to a DVD, I might offer to send them to you guys. Note I may charge a dollar or two just because of the fact DVDs are not quite as cheap as CDs.

i have one the disc only got it at a garage sale. It wqorks on the official hard drive I dont know about buring them though

Well to tell you about them. I know that there are two discs, I'm downloading them and disc 1 is 1.01gb and disc 2 is 1.33gb. I know the PS2 supports DVD-r as it read my copy of the transporter with (almost) no problems, its even mentioned on a few of the sites that take about the kit. Anyways with both discs small enough to fit on one DVD I was hoping its possible to do that otherwise its (to me) wasting money.

I know I still have to get the BBA, a USB keyboard (have a mouse) and I can use the tv as a monitor. Its just I cant do anything like add a mod chip to my PS2 (v3 not supported) so I figured I might as well make it a full blown linux box.

And so I dont get any post about how downloading those discs are illegal, the kit comes with two types of software the programing stuff that Sony makes illegal to share and the linux OS which is free to get as its said under the GPL.

P.S. I wont have the first disc done until about 2 days from now, disc 2 might take longer as its bigger and doesnt seem to download all the while I'm connected. So maybe a week.... hopefully.

No I use cable, but emule doesnt let me download at the speeds I wish I could. However, I done downloading the first image and the second image, suprisingly should be done today or tomarrow, only 160mb left.

Now I'm going to take a look at the compatable hard drive (no mod) and then see if I can either buy my brother's BBA or find a used one. This is after I replace the DVD drive on my PS2 ofcourse.
