Sound problem.

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Sound problem.

Post by ShockSlayer »

Ok, i have sound going to my screen from my n64. I have two compaq laptop speakers salvaged that should still work. for some reason my screen won't give me sound out of them. I have bridged slot 2's 5 6 and 7 headphone pins and have connected left and right audio to slot 2's 9 and 10 pins. I am using an official pso screen. what eslse should i do to get sound. I didn't see anything in the sticky.

I think you have to bridge the 3 headphone contacts on the back of the pcb, not the actual headphone jacks.

I thought you bridged the 3 pins. 5, 6, and 7 on slot 2. I saw a diagram for that somewhere.

That is correct. You connect the three pins on the back. I really have no idea, if you have done all that. Make sure the polarity is correct... I dunno.

You could maybe connect them to the same place that the screen's speakers were connected.

Try plugging in the original speakers and see if they still emit sound.

Maybe, it might be really quiet. Headphones might work, but you'd want to use ones with a volume adjuster if its too loud.

Careful, hooking your speakers up to the N64's audio outputs might blow the audio DAC and even if it didn't, it would be too quiet to be useful. You'll need to build a simple audio amp. Take a look at Ben's micro NES, you'll have to make two amps, one for each channel.
