It's amperage that kills, my friend, not voltage.

Well, voltage does kill, but not so much as amperage.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

I think voltage causes the pain, hence good 9v batteries hurting your tongue more than old ones. Shocking yourself with 120v or 220 still isn't good for you, they can both kill.

Yeah, but with the 9v battery, the battery will lose the ability to source as much current (and your tounge doesn't really have much resistance), so it doesn't hurt as much. The voltage only drops with the current, and you could graph the voltage drop compared to current drop.

So we have a thread about tragic accidents and eating 9v batteries?

Poor kid, although maybe it would of been wiser to wait a while before playing on a GB... towels dont completely dry people.

Have you not heard of the tounge test?

I heard the kid was wet from the pool, and in combination with using the wrong voltage power supply, he was ASKING to get shot. I was taught never to even turn on the lights with wet hands, and anyone with a brain knows not to use a 120V power supply in a 220V outlet.

Yeah voltage does cause pain. Those electric tazers put about 50,000 volts through a person, causing the muscles to spasm and general pain. It's amperage that will do the damage. Because if a tazer putting 50,000 volts into you doesn't kill but 120/220 out a wall socket does, well you know it's the amps then.

Also I'm un-aware of what voltage system Thailand uses. Do you they use a 120 or a 220 system. And if the Thailand system is 120 well I don't think that kid was using a travel kit, to avoid a mistake like this.
