This is just really bizarre. It's too bad they don't have more details on this. It seems like there had to have been water involved in some way, shape, or form. Very strange. So strange, in fact that I felt the need to share it.

I'm sure Jack Thompson will probably find a way to blame Nintendo, and the video game industry in general, for this one.

wrong link, i heard about this though. i can't really imagine how this happened unless he was living in a house with exposed wiring and stuf like that

still a shame the kid had to lose his life

Strange... The link works just fine for me.

Oh well. The gist of it is that a 7 year old kid from Britain was on vacation with his parents in Thailand and died when he went to unplug his Gameboy. Freakiness abounds...

The electrical plugs in thailand are similar to european ones. The prongs are a little longer and wider, so its probably easier for a small child to touch them while inserting or removing a plug. Its a shame, but really nobodies fault. Poor kid.

thats weird a second ago it was sending me to the oblivion expansion pack page you posted in the 360 section and now it works. probably my fault

wow, i wonder if it was a third party charger

There should be some kind of warning about the different electrical currents you get abroad because this would not have happened in England

Guess common sense doesn't cut it then. In anycase, if he was wet and doing it, chances are even at home it could've killed him.

It said British plugs have fuses in them, though...

I don't see how this made Game Spot news, not like it really has anything to do with Game Boys, even.

Poor kid, it's so sad to see someone go, especially by a stupid accident like this.

Now I'm sorry, but if you know what the word 'current' means, and you have the money to take a vacation in Thailand, you should know that the current that lies in Asia is the current that is used in Europe, earth prong or not, you can still get shocked in Europe.

Ok, why is this particular news story so devastating? People die from electrocution all the time, but no one rushes to announce that "man killed when plugging in DVD Player," or "woman dies when radio falls into bath tub."

I'm sorry, but people are dieing in worse ways all the time.

this never would have happened in america btw. having 220 volts is completely retarted in my humble opinion. though ive electricuted myself a lot in europe and im still alive. chances are it like damaged my brain but oh well. i dont know this story makes no sense to me
