GBA games with DS functions???

Post by benol »

I've been told by many people that some GBA games have two screen functions when played on the DS. Is this true? And if it is, what games are they?
PM me for DS friend codes. PLEASE!

I heard the same thing, and that you can also unlock certain features when putting certain games in a DS. Dont know if its true though. If it is, there probably crappy barby games that no one plays.

I know for a fact that you can unlock things in DS games with GBA games (for example, put WarioWare: Twisted! in the GBA slot and WarioWare: Touched in the DS slot. Start Touched, and you unlock a Mona Pizza music video.) I was asking about two screens used in GBA games.

Wouldn't be surprised if it were true, later GB games after the SGB release had special things activated when in use with it.

I've heard that TLoZ: The Minish Cap uses 2 screens, but that might not be true.

I don't think GBA games can in any way access DS hardware on its own. I think you need code on the ARM9 to initialize the communication. Or maybe... Isn't there a GBA cart that you can use for flashing your DS. dspassme?

The answer might also be in here for those who care to read: http://www.work.de/nocash/gbatek.htm

I know some other stuff: You can acces a special shop in the Zelda Oracle games if you play them on an advance.

Also Mario says something different when you put Mario Kart DS in a Lite then in a Phat ds.

I don't think any gba game is able to boot up with dual screen cause the firmware lets you choose either the upper or the bottom screen. You would have to change the firmware (make your own) to acces both screens and then still the picture would be the same on both screens.

Indeed.
I also know some other stuff: A more subtle change is that the color scheme is made a bit lighter when played on a GBA, to compensate for the different way RGB colors are defined. I noticed this when hacking an oracles ROM to get into that shop.;

As far as I remember, the DS hardware doesn't allow one buffer to duplicated to both screens. You could possibly copy everything from one buffer to the other using the ARM9, but games using some special effects would still fail on the slave screen, because of timing issues.
