psone screen problem

i bought a psone screen and i pluged in and in and it worked fine but when i tryed to run it off a 7.5v battery the screen just showed white lines. when i pluged the mains transofmer that came whit it in noting happened.i think a fuse has blowed but where is the fuse?

I don't know where the fuse is, but have you checked that it is getting power at all?

That's odd...

When you say your screen goes blank, does the backlight come on at all?
Also, try the screen fix located in the sticky at the top of the page, it may work after that.

And in the future, always test with the official power supply before using the battery, that way you know why things went wrong. You may also want to put your screen in an antistatic case while not being used to minimalize any further damage. Good luck!

The fuse is called PS1 and is located near the left audio jack.

Note: the left audio jack is removed in this picture. in its place are 2 wires and solder.

i did use the offical adepter and no the back lights dont come on.

on my psone screens board all the componts are in the same places but the part thats on your board thats called ps1 is called f1 on mine does this make any difference?

well you must have a different model of ps1 screen (didn't know there were different models)
As always, try bypassing it. but before you do that, use a multimeter to test the fuse before bypassing it to make sure its a bad fuse (of course, do this while the unit is running.)
If no current is going through the fuse, bypass it with solder. If current is going through it, then there is a different problem (such as bad power regulator)

i checked f1 aqnd yea it has blowed and i checked f2 while i was at it and it is blowen.

i dont know how i managed to blow both fuses.

the soldering iron is heating up and i will post back when im finished.

i couldnt find my solder so i used a pair of siscors to make contact on both sides but there ws no picture on the screen. what do i do.

i bypassed the fuse and the screen does come on but the back lights dont come on does any one know how to fix this or will i have to do the led mod.

well, if there's no picture (I still have this same problem with my N gadget NESp)
then let's troubleshoot.
questions:
1- on the ribbon cable ports (near the audio jacks), did you cut the cables correctly? (on the right ribbon cable port there should be 3 cables left-1blue and 2 white. on the left cable port there should be 2 cables left:1 blue and 1 white. here is a pic:

note: some situations you need to cut the cables to separate the useless parts in the base of the screen. you almost always have to do it, that is if you want everything smaller. you don't have to cut these.

2-what system are you using in your portable? you may have a wrong video connection. if you are using an NES, then you're in luck as I know where to put the wires.

3- use your multimeter to test the leads of this port:

this is the LCD ribbon cable. if no power is going through the lcd cable port, than there is most likely a wrong video connection.

4-adjust the volume or brightness controls. if you have a speaker wired correctly, you should hear sound. If not, you have all the same problems as I do. Check the audio connection.

5- what company made your screen? zenith, sony, ect.

6- is the video circuit amplified with a 2n4401 transistor?
this circuit is used in the NES system portable.

7- are you using ben's book to make a portable? if so, I can probably help.

EDIT: I posted this before I heard the screen successfully came on but no backlight.

The guide I have for hacking a psone also covers 3 other systems. NES,SNES,PSONE,ATARI 2600.
It's title is Hacking Video Game Consoles written by Benjamin j Heckendorn. It's the bible of hacking. It's avaible at your nearest book store and online. there is a section on this site that covers it and it's in the forum index. visit the books site by going to benheck.com homepage and going to 'buy stuff' and select the book. I highly recomend you get it.
