did it self boot, because my CDI2nero soul calibur will not self boot. I can't use disc juggler because I only have the evaluation copy which only supports 700mb files. I can't get my boot discs to boot anything, they boot up just fine, but when I swap discs and try to continue, it always goes back to the dremcast menu where it tells me to insert a disc.

Well I "obtained" the full version of DiscJuggler and I burned Soul Calibur with it. It boots just fine, but when I get to the part where I can select Arcade Multiplayer or mission mode, It goes black and never gets any further when I select a mode. I don't understand I used Jeep's settings and it burned fine but no dice for actually playing it.

I've found movies like this. Extract the one that is either 00 or 01. Once extracted it should be a CD image. From there you should be able to burn it with Nero or DiscJuggler.

Well, i'm quite experimented in cd/gd/riping/Dreamcast/self-boot technology, so I thought I might help you :

1) Size of images files: Some games images are bigger than 700mb because they are in RAW mode(2352 bytes/sectors) instead of normal mode1(2048 bytes/sectors), the actual data on the disc is really 700mb, the extra 30 or 60 mbs are error correction algorythms and subchannels.

2) Rar splited in parts: When you get scene release from usenet or whatever, (wich might be illegual, nasty boyz) they are often rared in many files to minimize the corruption while downloading, and to allow people to download big file in parts, to extract them, simply open the file named *.rar or *.001 or *.r01 with winrar and extract its content, if there's no > or < after filename in the archive, it mean you got the right file opened, in case or error message, look if you downloaded all of the parts.

3) File Formats: *.cdi is Diskjuggler or Alcohol; *.mds/*.mds is Alcohol; *.nrg is Nero; *.ccd is CLoneCd; *.cue/*.bin or *.iso can be burned with almost everything but will not be selfboot.

3*) File Formats; how to make a non-selfboot selfboot: 3 ways:

a. Download it again in selfboot format;

b. Take the files out of the image, burn a 705600bytes file in audio mode open session as session one(sao mode), then binhack the ip.bin and 1st_read.bin using binhack.exe(google is your friend) to 11702, then using mkisofs create a image of the files with fixed 1st_read.bin then using ipins.exe(google) to inject the ip.bin bootsector to the image created before, then burn it in mode 2 xa1 after th audio session (this is known as audio/data selfbooting, data/data is possible too, but way harder and only some consoles can't read audio/data anyway)

c. Use bin2boot(google)

4) *.par/*.sfv : *.par and *.sfv files are error correction files, they checks for corruption in the splitted images and corect them if they finds(and if it's not to big)

5) *.NFO/*.BIZ: *.Nfo/*.Biz files are text files containing infos on the release and can be opened with notepad with terminal font or nfoviewer(google) with enchanced fonts.

If this don't answer all your questions, feel free to ask more.

Thank you !
