so, I booted up my computer yesterday to find it make a strange noise and load this strange menu titled "Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS CMOS Setup Utility" to be exact. I told it to just continue booting up, but it just restarted and came back to that menu, and it always does. I tried navigating the menu to no avail, and I tried the Windows disc... and of course it didn't work. Help.
This took forever to type on my wii.

It keeps bringing you to the BIOS setup tool.
Try a different keyboard. If it still goes to that menu, you've got problems. If it boots normally, your keyboard has a stuck key or something.
Something like this happened on my old Dell OptiPlex GX1. The stuup hotkey on the keyboard got stuck down inside the case (it looked normal but the contacts inside were stuck).
If that's not the problem, you might have to replace the CMOS battery. How old is the computer?

hmm... I did recently open it to fix it... I will just reopen and connect it.
edit: I booted windows and now the usb ports are totally unresponsive, which is bad because my only keyboard and mouse are usb... still from the Wii...

nevermind, I jumped all of the broken computer hurdles.
Hurdle 1: Menu kept coming on upon startup
Jump: The contacts inside my keyboard were stuck together, the key was still up and normal looking. this was a hot key. I opened it up, and seperated them. Jump'd.
Hurdle 2: the mouse and keyboard didn't work upon windows startup.
Jump: My dad, in a blind attempt to fix it, navigating the menu, disabled the usb ports. I went back to the dreaded menu of death and fixed it. Jump'd.
Hurdle 3: The ethernet port that my internet was hooked up to seemed to be excommunicated from the computer.
Jump: I hooked up to the other one... wtf happened to the first one? O_O
thanks bic and timmeh for helping me over hurdles 1 and 2.
