After reading the forum, I know that the Super Gameboy has all the workings of a Gameboy inside, but sends the video to the Snes. So would it be possible to hook up the Super Gameboy to a PS1 screen via the Snes video chip?

Making a Gameboy out of the Super Gameboy
As we all know, the old gameboy screens are a bot too samll and not backlit, so I had a cunning plan, hack a Super Gameboy!

Yeah there is one now called the FC Twin. I'm not sure if it's "on a chip" per se, but it is smaller then the snes mini boards.BloodNess wrote:Hokusai wrote:What about using one of the smaller SNOAC's out there and hard wireing the SuperGB cart to that?

Anyhoo, the SNESoac ain't quite here yet, but the FC twin thing works well, so far has proven to be %100 compatible with the SNES library (unlike NOACs, which aren't %100 compatible with all NES games)
It ain't a single chip, but the board is really really small.
Of course, if you wanted to go nuts you could risk the $5 it would cost to get a gameboy and mod the screen with some led's or something like that, it probably wouldn't be too hard, and if you do screw it up a new game boy is so cheap.

Emulation isn't accurate. There is no substitute for real hardware!
nice idea cept the lcd is opaque and you wouldnt see the leds behind it.arfink wrote:Of course, if you wanted to go nuts you could risk the $5 it would cost to get a gameboy and mod the screen with some led's or something like that, it probably wouldn't be too hard, and if you do screw it up a new game boy is so cheap.
just make one of the fc twins into a port and wire up the super gameboy inside it or something.

the fc twin neeeds the second board with the a/v plugs on it, it also needs some caps and resistors on the NOAC board to get audio. the parts needed for audio are on the pins 10-16wallydawg wrote:Yeah there is one now called the FC Twin.
