Sansa e200 opinions?

im looking at getting a Sandisk Sansa e250 mp3 player, and i was wondering if anyone around here had an mp3 player in the e200 series, and would like to share their opinion.

im particularly concerned whether it ever crashes, the last Sandisk player i had (a looong time ago) always crashed.

and if you have any other specific negative or positive comments.

the 250 is the 2gb right, ive heard pretty much nothing but good things about this series of mp3 players, if i had the money i would probably buy one

yeah, its 2GB. Im upgrading from 512MB so it still seems big to me

plus theres the expansion slot for micro SD cards

It's crashed once or twice, but only when trying to play video files that were not properly converted (this happens when the file format trying to be converted by the included software is not supported, mp4's for example don't seem to work) or now, once installing open-source firmware (it's crashed a few times because of this). Like I said in that post, if it freezes, simply hold the "menu" button for 15 seconds and the player will shut down. If anything worse happens, the player has a "recovery mode" which can be accessed by a key combination. From here the firmware may be replaced and such.

Oh, and 10,000 Days sounds mighty fine on it as well.

Pick one up at Amazon if you can, they are going for cheeeeeaaaap.

My one friend just got one. He likes it but i'd rather get an iPod to play some Gameboy Color games on it via floydzilla

As far as I know only original Gameboy games are supported by anything MP3 player related, so far. And Rockbox has a Gameboy emulator.

i think ive pretty well decided to get this fine looking mp3 player, after i found out about rockbox, that pretty well sealed the deal.

harshboy: thats what i have a gameboy color for

. anyways. rockbox has a NES emu too

. the sansa and the ipod nano actually have the same SOAC processor. its dual 100mhz arm-7's

I think they might actually be different. From what I've read, the 1st Gen iPod Nano has the Portal Player PP5022, while the Sandisk Sansa e200 series has the PP5024 (some people say it's an upgrade, others say it's a lower model). Interestingly enough, all software and doc's that are on the Sansa call the chip the PP5022, while the physical chip reads PP5024. Somebody on the Rockbox forums suggested that the firmware was written for the PP5022, but is compatible (backwards?) with the PP5024.

Once you get your Sansa I can hook you up with the necessary info to install Rockbox and other such things. Well, actually I'll just post it all here for convenience.
