LCD Monitor Turns off Randomly?

LCD Monitor Turns off Randomly?
I have a Daewoo 19" LCD monitor that is a couple years old now, and it has all of a sudden started turning off randomly. The power light will remain on, but the screen will go black. I figure the backlight is going out. Is there any way that I can fix this?

I did hear this from my father, a friend of his had to replace his video card. As a result of it dying it was making the screen darker and just acting funny. Well after he replaced the card the screen was just fine. So I'm saying is that your card could be on it's way out. How old is it?

Nah, it wasn't the video card, because the monitor did the same thing on two machines (which is why I got the monitor for free
). After reading a bit, I found out that the CCFL tubes that provide the backlight for the monitor are fine; when the tubes go out, the monitor usually starts taking on a certain hue, like yellow or green. Mine was crystal clear, it just liked to flicker on and off.
I figured it was an inverter problem, so I opened it up and took a look at the inverter. Sure enough, some of the pins on both transformers had heated up and sizzled the solder off of them, leaving only a black burn mark and some toasted flux. A few minutes later I had resoldered them back to their pads. Good as new, and an easy fix to say the least. This topic can be closerized or deleted, whatever.
