want to know my secret?

Get your HD-TV
Then Wal-MArt has an $80 DVD player that take memory stick, pro-duo, sd and sd-mini

It supports V-CD, DVD, DivX

And here is the kicker, It has HDMI! and a free Cable
It is an RCA dvd player model: drc257n
I refuse to dignify myself with an intelligent and witty signature

It's not DVDs I'm concerned about, I've got an upconverting Denon 2910 for that. I'm talking about playing Blu-ray discs.

And by the way, the PS3 doesn't have any trouble with playing PS2 games (I don't have any PS1 games to try out), the only problem I can think of is getting an adaptor to play Guitar Hero with the guitar controller...

Do you miss the rumble or have you not noticed it lacking?

The lack of rumble isn't much different, not to mention some games like Need For Speed blur/shake the screen slightly in order to "simulate" a rumble (or so I assume).

I just got a PS3 too! I watched Talladega Nights (Blu-ray) on it, since it came with it. It was at 1080i. And it looked really good, mostly because the video wasn't as compressed and jpeg-y looking.

And I totally agree with you that the PS3 is amazing! I've already downloaded 4 different demos and the Warhawk trailer onto the hard drive, and I'm going to install yellow dog linux on it when it becomes free. And I might end up replacing that when a Cell-optomized build of Gentoo comes out, since Gentoo is my favorite distro.
Optomists say that the glass is half full.
Pessimist say that it's half empty.
Engineers say that it's twice as big as it needs to be.

So you're saying you have an HD-TV that outputs 1080i and Talladega Nights on Blu-ray ran in 1080i? Or did it run at 480p? Cause this goes against what sony has said about the Blu-ray capability...

I heard ps1 games suck on the ps3 but I don't really believe it. Can you test that?

I don't have any PS1 games, but if one of my friends has one, I'll try it out.

I was really disheartened when I saw how bad PS2 and PS1 games look on PS3. There's still a little part of me that really wants a PS3, but now that I've got my Wii60, I guess that means the battle line's been drawn for me. I just hope that after Blue Dragon kicks ass, Square'll start making games for it; and Capcom brings Resident Evil and Devil May Cry on over as well!

Just out of curiosity, what games really pushed your want for a PS3, if any?

oh my god that is the worst crap i have ever seen in my life. my snes hooked up to a 20 year old burned out tv with an unshielded rf cable looks better than that. I really used to like sony, then the copulate everybody over with the anti homebrew PSP, Then the put Lik-Sang out of buissness for no good copulate reason and now this. Sony has just lost a customer.

They really don't look that bad, it's a lot of hype without much proof (except for a few crap quality youtube videos).

Resistance was a big one for me, but I've found myself playing Need For Speed the most. I really didn't expect to be getting a PS3 until next year, my dad was the one who wanted to get it (he's the one with the money anyway  )
