Use an Original Playstion controller for PS2 games

Post by Gump-in-space »

I'm talking anologue stick-less controllers for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. I tried just using the conroller, but it didn't work. So I found out the solution to make it work. The problem: When I played THAM, the camera kept spinning untill it was impossible to play. The Solution: Plug a Duelshock 2 into slot one. Get into the actual game, then pause and switch the controller with the Playstion 1 controller. The explanation: On boot up the anologue sticks have to be at their resting position or the game won't play correctly. With the old controller, there are no sticks, so it gives a signal the machine can't recognise. Pluging a PS2 controller in tells the PS2 the sticks are at resting position. Switching the controller makes the system think that the sticks are still in resting position, because the controller doesn't give another signal.

Maybe the smaller controller is more comfortable to him?
