PS2 eject button just blinks

Ok as I want my PS2 back up and running I tore into it again. I found the cable that connects to the DVD-rom to keep coming loose so I taped it in place, and gladly now it powers up. But when I try to get the tray to open all the eject button does is blink for about 15 seconds then stops (guess it times out).

If anyone has a suggestion, I would be willing to take and try it. All I have is Armord Core for my PSOne I need something more difficalt, something with a challange and most importantly, I dont want to throw away my PS2 if I can help it.

You said the cable kept coming loose and you taped it in place? If that's the case then try taping it tighter to make sure all connections are tightly flush with each other.

Ok.... If you could discribe it that would help. I havent a cluse what the fues may look like, the only fuses I thougt were on the PS2 was the two on the PSU which work. I dont know if this might help but I have a v3 board so that might help you understand or help me locate things.

there should be a chip called something like BA5815FM, near it there'll be a small fuse called ps11 or somthing like that.

Well the closest thing I could find to what you discribed is a IC that is labled S7 and 2R2 they are next to a chip Labled ba5810fp. The other chip on the board is ba6664fm.

Well I checked to see if the ICs I mentioned last worked, and they did. Checked to see if the cable was firmly in place in the DVD-rom, seems to be. But the drive tray comes out with little resistance, so I think the DVD-rom is broken, or just need a new motor for the tray.

But as I dont want to rip the poor thing apart anymore I'll be looking for a replacement on ebay. Thanks for the help though guys.
