Computer Problem

Post by BroKilla93 »

Okay my computers is screwed up. A few days ago it stopped going on the internet. So i installed win XP Pro on the same computer (i have win XP home now). So now i wanted to get the internet working again. FireFox does not work same with internet explorer. No internet connection will work it simply says "Limited or No Connection". The Win Pro works but does not have sound and i just want my win home back. I have called microsoft and everything and short of buying a new CD (i lost my win xp home cd) what can i do (the computer came with SP1). The computer (under XP home ) does not get a gateway, ip, or dns. It gets the error ip and dns but under pro will work. Is there anyway i can reinstall the files i need.

How do you get your internet? Ethernet, WiFi, dialup?

I have wi-fi and this usb adapter for a 2-Wire. It will work on the Windows Pro Partition on my computer but not the Windows Home.

I have tried re-installing and every "simple Fix" and am prepared to get down and dirty.

Yah i have tried all the drivers and even the one that works with the WIN XP Pro wont work with the win xp home. A 2 wire is like a network dsl modem (google it). I think its problem with WIn Xp Home itself because i have tried 3 different types of internet and they all dont work.
