Why can't you buy one? It doesn't matter that you can't take your PS2 apart, you'd likely kill it anyways. Get something cheaper, so that mistakes are less expensive.Chwoka wrote:For clarification, I don't have anything but a PS2. My parents don't want me to disassemble my only gaming system, much less a new-age one. ESPECIALLY because I've never done it before. I would od a NES on a chip, but I can't buy one.

You know, I think Chwoka was on to something interesting. I may be wrong- if so, correct me- but I think the idea was to have experts make only what they are BEST at making. The completed portable would be extremely well done in EVERY way instead of just one or two.
If I'm only good at wiring power circuitry, a portable I make would have a nice power subsystem, but the case wouldn't be as nice as it could be. If I did the power circuitry, the case expert did the case, and the whatever expert did the whatever, you would end up with an "ultimate" portable made by a "community."
Just food for thought.

It is a good idea, however the execution is flawed. The individuals would have to work within close proximity (possibly in the same room or building) to be effective. Shipping a project such as a portable around the globe would be very costly, time-consuming, and dangerous.
However, the idea of having a group of skilled people working on one project is interesting. Imagine what the end result could be!

Yeah. The idea was good, but the shipping IS really a shortcoming. <nasaly mock voice> But maybe at the next portabilizer convention!
</mock voice that no one actually sounds like> But that would be...interesting. A dream team of portabilizing expertsworking on a portable with every system included. Unfortuantly, probably never happening. I wish that we could somehow overcome the shipping issues.
EDIT:
EDIT:
They wouldn't make eight, it would just go systematicly down the list. Also, what's the use of a very unstructured portable (buttons all over the place, not to mention the lack of ability to hold it without damaging something before it gets to the case designer.MESAJARJARBINKS wrote:this is a good idea but...
1. there would be arguments over the portable.each person would have to make EIGHT of whatever they are doing (or whatever number of people are working on it)
2.some dishonest person may just take the unfinished portable.
