Trying to spice up my MAME. How's it look?

I thought it might be a good idea to try and make my MAME a little more exciting. It's a big black wood box with buttons, basically.

Here are the button labels I'm working on. Their printed on glossy photo paper, and go under the buttons. Their not glued or taped yet because they aren't straight yet.

This is an older picture of the right side. Notice how the side-art is like a poster.

20 minutes and two Exacto-Knife blades later... Much better, right? I did the same to the other side too, I just don't have any pictures.

What else should I do? Is what I've done so far good?

Here is a test I did with the marquee I want. (It's really 3 pieces of paper and black and white)

That's lookin good maing!

I put a piece of plexiglass on top of my printout on my control panel. I used the buttons to hold the plexi down, and the t-molding helps too. I highly recommend something like that if your going to be putting artwork on it. It will last for years and years. You are making me want to build a full size cabinet!

I got mine from Happs. I ended up having a Happs warehouse within 10 minutes from where I work, so I can run over there and pick up my parts during lunch without having to pay shipping. If you want to do it right, you'll need a router and a slot cutter bit too. I needed a router anyways, and slot cutter bits simply look cool.

Cameraman, you and your kickass MAME cabinet are making me jealous. I want to build one of these, but space doesn't allow it.

(Got an old PC to use and a 20" CRT screen and everything!) (Nuklez, you're not helping either with yours...) Aw well, I guess I'll have to make a PC based console that runs the old games we all know and love... *design sketches*

Yeah, you can just take the T-molding off. (Doesn't it just get pressed into a space between the panels or something?) If you want to get an idea about how it will look before you paint it, cover the visible surface with some blue masking tape.

Wow, very nice! I love arcade cabs, I just appreciate all the work that goes into them. My cousin builds professional arcade cabinets for a living, so I know how much work goes into 'em. I even helped him throw together an MVS cab over the summer.

Again, though, it's a beautiful cabinet. You make me wanna go build one right now......

Well, the labels are actually printed on photo paper, and this paper is apparently waterproof and ageproof. Like the colors won't fade.

Here's what it'll hopefully look like. Hooray for Photoshop!

I think the T-Molding may be a bit much...
