Wii Browser Shop "Hack"

Dang NVM. Just now just read that a new firmware update bricks the hack possibility. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait till the real browser comes out... It's not like this was really any good anyways right?

Eh, it was horrible, not worth it. You do it by using a DNS redirection program, that redirects the request for the Wii Shop page to any other IP. It wasn't worth the trouble.

Having a webbrowser on the wii is good and should be coming out before xmas day as the Wii Shop is a stripped down version of opera

Why is it good u ask?

Well it will support flash which means youtube on the tv

and depending on if the D pad is set to arrow keys then flash games are gonna be very useful

Its good cause u could be watching a movie and u can easily check up on it.

there are a lot of things its handy for but even if youtube was the only thing worth doing it still a good idea

Theres nothing stopping them bringing a video player to the wii shop with builtin codecs kinda like VLC

the Mjpeg codec is a joke it works but is to big for movies really.

There is a wii movie converter if anyone is interested it will convert a movie to the right codec and i just use a SD card to view or transfer it to the wii from the card.

Im sure once the channels are worked out and it can be developed on someone will make a movie/video channel using the wifi to connect to the pc's hdd for the movies would be fantastic.

This is old, but was a good idea.
I can't wait, just for flash games. Imagine line rider. Sick.
Also, I wonder if a similar thing will happen for the news channel, probably just a glorified RSS reader.

The problem is that you can go onto websites that will run nes etc in the browser using java which will stop the need for the VG but if nintendo doesn't let you set the buttons on the wiimote then it would be useless as it would just be a mouse so you would only be able to play certain flash games.

News channel I wouldn't be surprised, but the Weather channel I doubt. If you've seen the videos, then you know it involves a 3D earth (Like Google Earth), & Adobe Flash sucks @$$ at 3D. (ShockWave on the other hand...)

They have sevaral Wii arcade sites out or in the works right now I guese.
The one i was one had some cool shooters like duckhunt and such.
