Is my wii faulty?

Another thread *gasp*?!

well i have a horrible feeling my wii is FAULTY!

its not major but the blue light of the disc slot only flickers briefly on for less that a second during power on and stays off at all other times (and i have checked in settings it is not turned off)...

How is it meant to work? Is this normal?

if it is faulty *super hero music* warranty to the rescue!!!

I heard that the blue light only comes on during power up and when you get a message from a friend on the message board thing. It will blink at you to let you know you have a message in much the same way that an answering machine does apparently. Try it out and let us know if that is, in fact, the case.

Uh, nope. All them do that. And like jones said, it pulses when you receive a message, but you can turn that off.

The blue light is on when there isn't a disc in. IF there is, it turns off.

It stays on for a couple seconds when going into Gamecube mode, as well(longer than when you start it up).

heh, I got one to glow by adding my e-mail to my address book, then replying. Of course, this is on my friends, since mine won't connect to the internet through my router.

They're right about the flash, but it stays on all the time when in standby, dimming in and out.

It stays on solid if it's a new email. At least that's what I've heard.

It does, just very little. Remember that the Wii's slot light is controlled by the Firmware (the first firmware shipped w/ the Wii didn't even have the option of changing the light's brightness), so Nintendo could release a firmware update where you have the option of it always being on...
