This isn't just to you, but everyone who is concerned and I have to get it out in the open:
WEST is not joining with Blackbox! If WEST goes through and makes a portable Blackbox, fine. But it's pissing me off that their going to say that they did all the original work. I don't want to be associated with WEST at all! Pretty much all their going to do is steal our hard work and call it their own. Who else other then me thinks that's wrong?
I mean, their's a lot of software I've been writing for the Blackbox that uses snippets of Parallax code and I always give credit to the original coder. WEST shouldn't just take our stuff and call it their own. Like, when one of us makes a portable, we don't say that we invented the original console.

Seriously, all the fighting between the homebrew consoles around here is what's pissing me off! This team does this, this team does that, some other random people keep making it sound like they're merging with the first team, it seems like random homebrew consoles are coming out of every orifice! Why are you trying to re-re-reinvent the wheel?
Why can't we all just get along?!
If the situation gets any worse, threads will be locked and punishments will need to be given. Understood?

Sorry bic, I guess I kinda lost control, but surely you can understand that I don't want people to claim my work as their own.
I totally agree with you though, the situation is getting out of control. I have no problem with other people using work done on the Blackbox for their own console, but only if proper credit is given.

Ok, let me set this straight (2nd time I've posted this, idiotsiam7805 wrote:WEST is not joining with Blackbox! If WEST goes through and makes a portable Blackbox, fine. WEST Games was started, the idea was to make a portable system using a Propeller. I thought "Why not just merge with Blackbox since we are also wanting to use a Propeller, and be a portable division? Then we could have the same software and that." I was thinking the same as you, "Why reinvent the wheel?". If we did use the Blackbox hardware, we would have likely moved to their forums or at least changed our name and given them credit.
The whole time I said we would ask them if we could use their hardware, not that we should go and steal their designs.

I have no problem with you using our hardware and software, as long as credit is given and the project is still under the Blackbox name (or at least related to it
). I do like that name one of you came up with, Onyx Cube.
The Blackbox is open-source, after all.

Hint 1: Since you are probably more familiar with common PC hardware than exotic custom-made designs, get yourself a mini-itx motherboard, the parts, and install an appropriate variant of Linux. Then learn how to code for it.
Hint 2: Change the forum colors. A good start would be to use a couple different shades of dark green or blue.

Well f*****g (well screw said sounded odd) said. I'll check this out, simply because making your own console is an ambitious product, but you've gotta be pleased with yourself if you can get it done i'm sure. What is WEST anyway?bicostp wrote:<img src="http://www.skytroniks.com/images/databa ... .gif">Stop bickering like schoolchildren, the lot of you!

EDIT: Ok I know what WEST is and whilst I cannot doubt BlackBox because it's somewhere now, I don't see this project going anywhere.

Somebody please buy my Dreamcast >_> £20+shipping

iam7805, if the Blackbox is open source anyone can take it and name it whatever they like. It isn't under any real kind of protection.
If I used your hardware I'd still name my device whatever I wanted. I'd give you credit, but only because of moral incentives, not lawful obligations.
Of course, I could be wrong about that. I'm not particularly well versed in actual law.
I also have to agree with Unidentified Assilant; I doubt any of these new console "projects" are going anywhere.
