What? That's total bull. There are too many homebrew handhelds as it is, but you're actually sugesting we build a portable version of an in-development homebrew console??? If that's the case then I'm out.

What would you have us do then, do all the work blackbox has already done when you could just borrow their design? Talk about it on the WEST Games forum.

Borrow? What about the Hydra? There are other consoles using the propeller, you don't need to steal our hard work because you're too lazy.

And for your guy's content, if you do not give full credit to Black Box Incorporated, there is no 'WEST.'

What??? I meant we should ask you guys if we could, because then we could have compatible games and that.

Well, you can split it with an axe. you just would be basically be pushing atoms with smaller atoms.

A) Yes, the Blackbox has used SNES compatible controllers for a while now. While they don't use the same connector (can't source the parts), they use the same encoding (two 4021 chips in serial to make a 16-bit signal). For this reason, if you cut the end off of a SNES controller and attached it to a Blackbox controller, it would work with the SNES, and if you connected the Blackbox's connector to a SNES controller it would work with the Blackbox.

B) Nobody ever talked to me, and quite frankly I don't want to merge with anything, or be associated with this. If you make a portable Blackbox, it's a portable Blackbox. Not a WEST or whatever.

C) Just if your wondering, I found out about Hydra about a month after I started experimenting with the Propeller chip. The Blackbox is more of an easy to use, open source system with the capability to play homebrew games, while the Hydra is an educational system marketed towards hobbyists who want to learn how to write multiprocessing apps and games with the Propeller.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

So basically you guys want to rip off the hard work of others and give them no credit? Why not call yourselves "Microsquash"? The only work you would have to do yourselves is design a case and get some composite screens.

The GP2X is a portable homebrew machine... Why reinvent the wheel?

Sorry but this post really reminds me of that episode of Futurama that took place on the moon...

Nothing kills a good project like splitting it off into a million branches. "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

Why don't you guys work with the BlackBox team, if you're so focused on using their hardware?

EDIT: *reads post below this one* Oooh, ok. I get it now. :)

Ok, let me set this straight (again  ).
WEST Games was started, the idea was to make a portable system using a Propeller. I thought "Why not just merge with Blackbox since we are also wanting to use a Propeller, and be a portable division? Then we could have the same software and that." I was thinking the same as you, "Why reinvent the wheel?". If we did use the Blackbox hardware, we would have likely moved to their forums or at least changed our name and given them credit.
The whole time I said we would ask them if we could use their hardware, not that we should go and steal their designs.
